Jonathon Naylor Editor A 17-year-old male has been arrested after allegedly firing shots at a residence on the northern Manitoba reserve of Cross Lake. The suspect, a resident of Cross Lake, also stands accused of pointing a firearm at two fellow residents and firing additional shots outside a residence. RCMP were notified shortly after 1 a.m. on April 10 of shots being fired outside and at a residence in the Saggitawak area of Cross Lake. During the course of their investigation and immediate patrols of the area, Mounties said they learned the suspect had also pointed a firearm at two local residents. Shortly before 4 a.m., the suspect was located and arrested in connection with the first report and subsequent incidents. He was charged with discharging a firearm with intent; careless use of firearm; possessing a weapon for dangerous purposes; two counts of pointing a firearm; and several counts of failing to comply with conditions of an undertaking and a probation order. As of last week he remained in custody pending a court appearance in Thompson last Thursday. Under the Youth Justice Criminal Act, his name will not be released. Police are continuing their investigation and ask anyone with information to contact the Cross Lake RCMP at (204) 676-2345 or Manitoba Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS). Cross Lake is located about 120 air kilometres south of Thompson.
