Creighton and Pelican Narrows are sharing in the latest round of charitable grants from the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority. SLGA recently announced that about $1.6 million in gaming grants were distributed across Saskatchewan in the final quarter of 2012. Creighton received $3,625 between the Creighton Community Centre and the Flin Flon Motorcyclists Association, with most of the funds going to the latter organization. Another $1,336 went to Pelican Narrows, all of it to Wapanacak Community School. All told, more than 900 groups and organizations across the province benefitted. The quarterly grants are based on a percentage of net proceeds raised through licensed charitable gaming activities such as bingos, raffles, break-open tickets, Texas Holdâ??em poker and Monte Carlo events. Charitable gaming reports submitted by groups are used by SLGA to automatically calculate grant amounts.
