Every four years the seniors in this region get together to have a competition in such things as cribbage, whist, bridge, shuffle board and golf. This year the dates were Tuesday, September 14 and Wednesday, September 15, and golf was supposed to have been held on Thursday, September 16 but there was only one entry. The turnout for most events was excellent and in the case of whist some people had to be turned away. The banquet on Tuesday evening, September 14, saw 55 people attend. Regions represented were The Pas and Flin Flon with no representatives from Thompson or Cranberry Portage. The Pas sent 14 participants and Snow Lake sent two participants with the rest being from Flin Flon. The results are as follows: In cribbage all the winners were from The Pas: 1st - Pete and Mary Wilson, 2nd - Vi Wood and Gina Kowalchuk, 3rd - Sharon Arnold and Sylvia Ludyk. In whist the winners were all from Flin Flon: 1st - Joe and Mina Fernandes, 2nd - Martha Johnson and Tillie Potkonjak, 3rd - Eloise McLean and Chris Andersen. In bridge the winners: 1st - Harold Kowalchuk and Ted Green from The Pas, 2nd - Bill Wingert and George Kearns from Flin Flon, 3rd - Jean Wright and Iris Wiebe from Flin Flon. Unfortunately, that was all the winners I was able to track down and thanks to Iris Wiebe for that!
