No one was injured yesterday morning when a semi truck slid off the road and plowed through a power pole before striking a Tweedsmuir St. home. The truck left an imprint in the side of the home and dislodged an exterior staircase, but did not penetrate the wall. Police said the driver lost control on the slippery corner at the intersection of Channing Dr. and Tweedsmuir St. The accident resulted in a temporary power outage in that part of town while Manitoba Hydro workers raced to replace the mangled wooden pole. "At the end of the day, I think we were lucky because it could have been a lot worse," said Flin Flon RCMP Cst. Bryan Bowskill. See 'Semi' P.# Con't from P.# The semi, a Mel Cartage Ltd. truck from Winnipeg carrying a flat bed trailer, was towed out of the yard. It sustained frontal damage but remained operational. Police received a report of the accident from a neighbour shortly after 11 a.m. No charges are pending against the driver. Cst. Bowskill reminded motorists to exercise caution on winter roads, regardless of whether the sand trucks have been out.11/30/2004
