The province will review whether the seasonal speed limit of 70 km/h should be in place year round in the vicinity of Bakers Narrows Provincial Park. The Athapap Cottage Owners Association has applied for the change, with a Highway Traffic Board hearing scheduled for Flin Flon on Sept. 23. The 70 km/h speed limit is currently in place from about May to September, when campers and cottagers frequent the Bakers Narrows area. For the remainder of the year, it rises to 100 km/h, matching the speed limit along most of the highway. The province encourages people with input on this potential change to attend the upcoming hearing or forward comments to the Highway Traffic Board. The hearing is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 23, at 1:30 p.m. in Court Room B of the Barrow Provincial Building. For information about providing input without attending the hearing, phone Iris Murrell at (204) 945-8912.
