Jonathon Naylor Editor Ruth Betts Community School will participate in a pilot study on how to improve academic outcomes for students with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. The $2,000 study, to be conducted this school year, will utilize existing research and involve having the students exercise. It will be funded by the Manitoba government's Healthy Schools initiative. Healthy Schools is providing the Flin Flon School Division with another $4,500 for five other projects: $2,000 for new LED lights in the cabins and a canoe / kayak for Camp Whitney; $1,000 for an after-school recreational cross-country ski program, to provide equipment for needy youth; $500 for a children's ski program; $500 to run evening gymnasium programs; and $500 for a school dance program. The grant was coordinated with representatives from the Northern Regional Health Authority, the City of Flin Flon and Community Active Living.
