Retirees and long-serving employees were the guests of honour at a recent Flin Flon School Division awards banquet.

On Friday, May 29 at Bakers Narrows, the division presented 25-year watches to six employees and recognized eight employees who have called it a career.

Reflecting on the event at Monday’s school board meeting, Trustee Trish Sattelberger, board chairwoman, said the watch recipients and retirees have a combined 200-plus years of experience.

“I think it speaks volumes to the dedication of our staff that we have in our division for someone to stay that long and do that job that long,” said Sattelberger. “I think that speaks volumes to the people that we have and I think we should be very grateful and feel very lucky to have that kind of commitment, because not everywhere does.”

Honoured retirees were Pat Bateman (educational assistant, Hapnot Collegiate); Bruce Fidler (maintenance supervisor, school division); Lauren Gunn (custodian, Hapnot); Patricia Kristof-Hall (teacher, Ruth Betts Community School); Terry Lyons (custodian, École McIsaac School); Joanne Robinson (educational assistant, Hapnot); Pamela Ryan (teacher, McIsaac); and Sandra Wallaker (educational assistant, Hapnot).

Twenty-five-year watches went to Brent Bedford (principal, Hapnot); Cynthia Davey (retired teacher, Ruth Betts); Lynn Fischer (educational assistant, Ruth Betts and McIsaac); Doreen Roman (educational assistant, Hapnot and Many Faces Education Centre); Patricia Kristof-Hall (teacher, Ruth Betts); Beatrice Walker (teacher, Hapnot).

The banquet included dinner and greetings from union representatives.
