Superintendent of Schools Blaine Veitch updated the public on some happenings in education at Tuesday's school board meeting. Here is a recap: The Flin Flon RCMP have assigned officers to help with school needs, from education to dealing with specific situations. Constables Berthelot and Brar have been assigned to Hapnot Collegiate and Many Faces Education Centre; Constables Suss and Bowskill to McIsaac School Ecole McIsaac; and Constables Klemmer and Ross to Parkdale School. See 'Happenings' P.# Con't from P.# The Canadian Children's Book Centre and TD Bank Financial Group have provided copies of the book Omar on Ice to every grade 1 student in Manitoba. If grade 1 parents have not received their copy, please check with school administrators. Canadian Parents for French have produced and circulated new brochures highlighting the benefits of learning a second language. Anyone interested in receiving a copy may phone McIsaac, Hapnot or the school division office. Students Allison Hall and Graham Craig have been selected to attend the upcoming Canadian Medical Hall of Fame Conference in Winnipeg. The event is designed for students who have an interest in entering the medical profession. Hapnot's Lisa Aune has been named to a provincial team to review the learning resources for the new grades 9 and 10 social studies curriculum. The second quarter at Many Faces will begin this Tuesday, Nov. 16.
