A Cranberry Portage woman is warning the public after a man falsely claiming to be with RBC Royal Bank called and attempted to obtain her credit card number.
The woman, who asked that her name not be published, said the man called her at home last Thursday morning, Jan. 14, from the area code 161.
He knew her name and told her she now qualified for a lower credit card rate, but the woman informed him that this rate was already available to her.
He attempted to get the final eight digits of her credit card, she said, but she refused.
When the woman called the phone number listed on the back of her credit card, she was told the man was not affiliated with the company.
