RCMP are warning the public about a credit card scam that may be on its way to Flin Flon. Police have received information that an individual in Pelican Narrows has been using stolen credit card numbers to purchase items like golf clubs and appliances. No such reports have come in yet, but the police information suggests that the individual plans to attempt the same scam in the Flin Flon area. As a result, Flin Flon RCMP are advising local businesses not to accept any credit card orders unless they have verified that the card is being used by its owner. RCMP also suggest that businesses obtain two pieces of identification, including a photo ID, from customers using credit cards. Police believe the scam artist has a contact in Prince Albert who supplies the credit card numbers, owner names and expiry dates. The suspect has been advising businesses that someone else would be picking up the purchased goods, as the caller claimed not to own a vehicle.
