As a kick off to Tourism Awareness Week 2004, Northern Saskatchewan Tourism and Tourism Saskatchewan staff members will be heading out on the "Tourism Awareness Week RV Tour", Sunday, May 30 and Monday, May 31. The first leg of this provincial tour will be stopping at various venues and taking in a number of events along the Hanson Lake Road (Highway 106), as well as the communities of Creighton, Denare Beach, Jan Lake, Candle Lake and Prince Albert. Stops are also planned throughout the rest of the week in other regions of Saskatchewan. Tourism Awareness Week and the RV Tour are ways of reminding Saskatchewan residents of the many incredible holiday destinations available right in our own back yard and spreading the word about the importance of tourism to our communities and the province. In Saskatchewan, tourism generates approximately $1.4 billion annually. The jobs of more than 60,000 people, or one in every eight employees in Saskatchewan, are either partly or wholly supported by tourism.
