Saskatchewan is moving forward into the fourth phase of its provincial reopening plans, coming despite several days of increasing case numbers.
The first part of the fourth phase of the Reopen Saskatchewan plan got underway June 22, allowing some outdoor recreation spots previously closed to reopen to the public. Day camps for children, outdoor pools and spray pads and seasonal outdoor sports and recreation have been given the all-clear to continue as of June 22.
Saskatchewan’s fourth phase of reopening will be split into two subphases.
The second portion of the plan, set to come into effect at a later date, will allow reopening of indoor pools and rinks, libraries, galleries, museums, casinos, bingo halls and movie theatres to reopen. Indoor gathering sizes have been increased to as many as 30 people, while all customers or users are expected to keep a distance of two metres or more between each other whenever possible.
Social distancing will continue to be maintained and anyone with flu-like symptoms is asked to stay home, self-monitor and, if necessary, seek medical treatment. The provincial government is also asking all people who are able to work from home efficiently to continue to do so. Strict cleaning and disinfection guidelines will remain in place for businesses, recreation facilities and public spaces.
The reopening news comes one day after Saskatchewan announced its worst COVID-19 numbers in a month, announcing 20 new cases of COVID-19. Most of the cases were found in southern Saskatchewan. No cases have been reported in any Saskatchewan community located near Flin Flon.
