The Saskatchewan government is reminding employers and workers that the province's minimum wage will soon increase. Effective Thursday, Sept. 1, the province's minimum wage goes from $9.25 to $9.50 per hour, which will also result in a corresponding increase to the minimum call-out pay to $28.50. Labour Relations and Workplace Safety Minister Don Morgan said the province "will continue to review the minimum wage regularly and make adjustments as appropriate." He said the Wall government has boosted the minimum wage by 19.5 per cent since 2007 Ð "a significant increase in pay for low-income earners in Saskatchewan." The latest increase will benefit roughly 22,000 minimum-wage earners in Sask-atchewan, representing about five per cent of the paid workforce in the province.
