A silica sand deposit 90 minutes west of Flin Flon is showing economic potential.
Rainmaker Resources is optimistic following the initial phase of field testing at its Jayjay and Jayjay East sand projects in north central Saskatchewan.
“I am encouraged by the results we have seen so far at Jayjay,” Rick Patmore, president and CEO of Rainmaker, said in a news release last week. “Knowing that we have the product we always believed in is exciting for the shareholders of Rainmaker.”
Patmore said the company is now preparing a drill testing and resource evaluation program to confirm the thickness and areal extent, product size distribution and properties at depth.
This will be done to prepare a resource estimate in accordance with national reporting standards, he said.
The projects contain “frac sand,” which is used in the oil and gas industry to boost flow to the wellhead at the surface of a well.
In order to undertake a more extensive field-
testing program at Jayjay
and Jayjay East, the Calgary-based Rainmaker must get a permit from
the Saskatchewan government.
The company anticipates this work program will take place early next summer.
The two silica sand projects are located about 150 km west of Flin Flon.
Rainmaker has acquired frac sand assets in Canada and the United States.
