Run For The Cure: Fundraiser Sunday

On Sunday afternoon, running shoes will hit the track at the Whitney Forum – and on trails all over the country – for the CIBC Run for the Cure.

Since 1992, volunteers have raised awareness and funds for breast cancer research and programming through this 5k/1k walk/run event.

The first run took place in Toronto, where over 1,500 participants raised $85,000. CIBC joined as the title sponsor in 1997 and the event has continued to grow since then.

Flin Flon’s CIBC Run for the Cure will take place at 1 pm at the Whitney Forum.

Flin Flon and area participants are registered as part of the Brandon team, says organizer Mona Keyes, financial services representative at CIBC.

Flin Flon CIBC employees and the Flin Flon Junior Bombers have already committed to walking or running on Sunday, and participants are welcome to join in on the day of the race.

There is a $40 participation fee and donations go to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.
