Rubber Boot Cup up for grabs at road hockey tournament

The International Association of Machinists (IAM) will be hosting a road hockey tournament this Sunday, June 28, at their strike headquarters on Church Street.

Registration for the Rubber Boot Cup Road Hockey Tournament will start at 11 am with games getting underway at 12 noon.

Teams are to have at least five players. There is a $25 team entry fee.

The double knockout format will ensure teams have a minimum of two games each.

Goaltenders are optional as teams can have either five forwards or four forwards and a goalie. The first team to score five goals will win.

Entry fees will be used as prize money with 80 per cent going to the first place team and 20 per cent going to the second place team.

IAM will also be holding a free hot dog barbecue.

Following the tournament, local band The Whyte will play a live show for the community from 2 pm to 4 pm.
