Kelly Carrington Staff Writer Lots of little boys and little girls gathered on the floor to watch a magic show and hear a few stories at the Flin Flon Public Library. But it wasn't just any story time. The story teller was one they all knew very well. Here's some hints; he has big red shoes, he has a big red smile, he has a big red nose, he has big red hair, and he wears yellow and red striped socks under his yellow jumpsuit. Nearly 100 children settled in for story time with Ronald McDonald on Wednesday afternoon. First, Ronald treated the audience members to some magic before reading them some stories. After story time, the children raced around the bottom level of the library and collected plastic eggs. They were on an Easter Egg hunt! Once all 150 eggs were collected, all the children got a treat bag _ which included a new pencil and bookmark! Cindy McLean, of the Flin Flon Public Library, says she couldn't have asked for a better turnout. Ronald McDonald has been to the library before, but last year's crowd only drew about 20 children. This year's 89 was a great turnout, she said. 'I thought it was an amazing turnout,' said McLean. Advertised for those between the ages of four and seven, the room was filled with younger children as well _ some being siblings and others from the local daycare centers. McLean contacted Ronald McDonald and asked him to entertain the children for an afternoon during the Spring Break. 'They came and treated the children to fun stories, interactive magic and the Easter Egg hunt,' she said. The family event ran for two hours Wednesday afternoon. 'Impressed' 'I was really impressed with Ronald,' said McLean, noting that the children all had a great time too. 'The children had a blast hunting for the eggs, too,' she said. With such a great turnout to the Spring Break event, McLean hopes to be able to invite Ronald back to the library for a future visit. 'I think the turnout dictated that we should offer that again,' she said. Along with the Ronald McDonald afternoon and Easter Egg hunt, the Flin Flon Public Library is also running a Who Kidnapped The Easter Bunny? program. The contest has children telling their creative version of who kidnapped the Easter Bunny and why. The contest runs until Thursday. As of Wednesday, there were roughly 30 entries.
