Jonathon Naylor Editor Following its highly anticipated arrival last year, Flin Flon's Rogers Wireless outlet recently closed with no plans to reopen. But Canada's largest cellphone provider says local customers will still be served online, over the phone or in person at any other Rogers outlet in Manitoba. Spokesperson Sara Holland could not provide details as to why the Main St. store shut down, as it was operated by an independent dealer. Rogers opened in Flin Flon in March 2011, nearly six years after first indicating it was interested in cracking the Flin Flon and area market. High speed It opened the same day that MTS Allstream launched its new High Speed Packet Access (HSPA+) wireless network in the community. The HSPA+ technology was added to existing MTS infrastructure through an arrangement between MTS Allstream and Rogers. In the summer of 2005, the City of Flin Flon granted Rogers permission to build a telecommunications tower to service Flin Flon, Creighton and Denare Beach. In the end, however, Rogers partnered with MTS Allstream to use the latter company's infrastructure.
