There is potentially more good news for Snow Lake mining. Late last month, Rockcliff Minerals revealed the initial results of exploratory drilling near their Rail deposit.

The company said in a news release they had found high-grade copper mineralization underneath the Rail deposit and will continue with more drilling nearby. Drilling near the Rail deposit will explore at least 10,000 metres as part of the company’s 16-month drilling campaign.

“To have the first holes hit massive sulphide intercepts exactly where the geophysical anomaly inferred them to be boosts our confidence in our understanding of the geology of the Rail deposit and across the region,” Rockcliff president and CEO Alistair Ross said in the release.

“To have these holes also hit high-grade copper combined with meaningful gold grades is an auspicious beginning to our pursuit of becoming Manitoba’s next copper producer.”

Results from two drill holes were also released, with the percentage of copper as high as 17 per cent in some sections and the percentage of zinc reaching over 10 per cent in others.

The company is continuing to develop the deposit, which was first described in 2010. That estimate said the deposit could contain nearly 25 million kilograms of copper.
