The second armed robbery in The Pas in just over two weeks could be the work of the same criminal. This past Saturday at 9 p.m., an armed male entered the Petro Canada on Fisher Avenue and demanded the money from the cash register. Police would not disclose his weapon of choice. The suspect stuffed the cash into a bag and fled the scene on foot. His description is similar to that of an armed robber who thieved several hundred dollars from Broadway Confectionary on February 26. He also resembles a man who failed at an armed robbery attempt at the Town Centre Hotel on March 6. He was unsuccessful because staff chased him out of the premises. "The description is similar from all three incidents," said Cpl. Pat Olson of The Pas RCMP. "However, police will not rule out that there could obviously be another party involved." In total, the suspect has stolen between $600 and $700 in cash. The robberies have prompted some businesses to beef up their security, according to Cpl. Olson. The suspect in all three incidents was described as between 6' and 6'2" with a slim build. None of the businesses he targeted utilized surveillance cameras. Anyone with information on any of these crimes is asked to contact Manitoba Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
