Northern Manitoba drivers will see improved road conditions, as the government will invest more than $800,000 to replace municipal streets and roads.
More than 27 kilometres of municipal roads will be repaired in the northern area with an additional 16 kilometers 16 kilometers in Manitoba Aboriginal and Northern Affairs communities like Nelson House, Cross Lake and Seymourville.
The additional project will ring in at $250,000.
“The northern region has experienced healthy growth in past years, thanks in part to major investments in roads that serve the residents, businesses and destinations that support our tourist industries,” said Municipal Government Minister Drew Caldwell.
“These municipal road projects will ensure we have safe, efficient travel routes and roads that will keep communities connected, improve transportation safety and create good jobs,” said Caldwell.
A total of $90 million over five years will be spent to repair and renew both roads and bridges across Manitoba.
The government will spend more than $12.8 million across the province to improve more than 519 kilometres for roads in 107 municipalities and up to 50 Manitoba Aboriginal and Northern Affairs communities.
