A high demand of shoppers at Flin Flon’s Restore location has Habitat Manitoba requesting the doors open an additional two days a week.
Habitat 53º’s Kathy McCormack says doors will now be open Wednesday through Saturday, starting this week.
Habitat Manitoba “has been watching my numbers and they want to see us grow more,” said McCormick.
The Restore has proven to have a positive impact in the community over the years McCormick says there are always people wondering, “Why is it only open one or two days a week?”
McCormick opened the doors for a second day last season, helping to reach about 100 shoppers each weekend.
“So, we’ll try a four-day week and see how it goes,” she says.
To help keep the Restore running on the additional two days, McCormick is looking for volunteers to man the counter.
“We’re looking for people who can commit to three hours, whether it is once a week, once a month, or whatever,” she says.
Habitat Manitoba told McCormick about the additional hours on June 3, but because of busy schedules, the Flin Flon location was not able to open during the week until now.
McCormick says she has no worries that the store will continue to be busy throughout the week and weekends.
“It’s been growing so much since we opened in late April,” she says.
All of the items sold at the Restore are donated from within the community. With funds from the sales going towards the build of the Steventon Boulevard home.
The Restore will be open from Wednesday through Friday from 1 to 4 pm and on Saturdays from 10 am to 3 pm.
