A Creighton resident is hoping to get town council to light up a portion of Highway 167.

Amanda Dubinak wrote a letter to Creighton Town Council ahead of its Feb. 28 meeting imploring the town to erect street lights near the Bomber Lake corner south of Creighton. Dubinak’s letter specifically mentions the ends of two streets on Highway 167 – Bomber Lake Road and King Crescent. Neither section is currently covered by streetlights.

“When travelling in from Denare Beach, this area is very poorly lit and is a danger for pedestrians,” reads the letter from Dubinak.

The area has claimed at least one recent casualty – a man died in August 2016 after being hit by a car at night on the unlit stretch of road.

Council members have not heard of similar requests in the past. The letter was referred to the Town’s Protective Services Committee.
