A caring Moose Lake couple has rescued dozens of stray dogs from around their community. Gavin Durst and Cindy Scott recently shipped some 50 canines to the Winnipeg Humane Society, where it's hoped they will be adopted. "They would be left up here to starve in the cold weather. A lot of them are shot," Durst, a retail employee, told The Winnipeg Sun. "Sometimes they're in really bad shape, just from malnutrition." This was the latest shipment of dogs the couple has sent to Winnipeg from around Moose Lake, a First Nation community near The Pas. "We have albums and albums and albums of pictures of almost every pup we've taken down," Durst told The Sun.
