A Flin Flon man charged with second-degree murder will appear in court again next month. Mitchell Whitbread, 24, is due back at Flin Flon Provincial Court on Oct. 3 after his case was again remanded last week. He is charged in the stabbing death of John (Kelli) Eyres, 31, also of Flin Flon, on May 12. RCMP say Whitbread and Eyres did not know each other. Meanwhile, accused murderer James Desmarais, 45, of Flin Flon was back in The Pas Provincial Court on Monday. Details from the appearance were not available at press time. Heading into court, he had yet to enter a plea in the homicide of Raylene Dawn Grant, 21, who died of asphyxiation on Oct. 31, 2011. She was also a Flin Flon resident. Desmarais is charged with second-degree murder. Police say he and Grant knew each other. While Flin Flon RCMP say Desmarais confessed to the murder, that will not necessarily translate into a guilty plea. RCMP have released few details of the homicides.
