A group hoping to kickstart business in Flin Flon and the surrounding area has earned some hardware.
The Flin Flon, Creighton and Denare Beach Regional Economic Development Committee (REDC) was honoured at last month’s Economic Developers Association of Manitoba (EDAM) awards, winning the group’s Project of the Year Award.
The group was recognized for their efforts to combine the voices of three communities across two provinces. Officials from all three communities, including Flin Flon Mayor Cal Huntley, Creighton Mayor Bruce Fidler and Denare Beach Mayor Carl Lentowicz, are active with the group.
“Given the other amazing projects that were considered, we are pleased that we could break new ground around innovative initiatives that have the potential to greatly impact regional areas and peoples,” reads a joint statement from the three mayors.
“Such recognition is not taken lightly and is greatly appreciated.”
