Regional briefs: Premier sets The Pas byelection

Premier Greg Selinger announced that a byelection will be held Tuesday, April 21 in the provincial constituency of The Pas. The Pas constituency seat has been vacant since May 16, 2014, following the health-related resignation of Frank Whitehead.

The Pas constituency seat has been vacant since May 16, 2014, following the health-related resignation of Frank Whitehead.

Nominations in the constituency will officially close at 1 p.m. on Monday, April 6 and advance polls will be open from April 11 to 18.  On voting day, polls will remain open from 7 am to 8 pm.

There are currently 36 New Democrats, 19 Progressive Conser-vatives, one Liberal and one vacant seat in the Manitoba legislature.

Manitoba’s next general election is set for April 19, 2016.
