With a tiny trailer in tow, one family is making their way across Canada to hear about different Main Streets and the stories that surround them.
Lisa Marie DiLiberto interviewed Flin Flon residents last week about the community’s Main Street to see how it has changed over the years.
Setting aside about 30 minutes per person, DiLiberto had a mini trailer parked in Pioneer Square on Thursday, June 18 and Friday, June 19.
Flin Flon stories will be added to a collection of anecdotes for The Tale of a Town, a multi-platform celebration of Canada’s Main Street culture that will help honour the country’s 150th anniversary in 2017.
DiLiberto says all the stories collected will be tagged by theme and made into an audio document to be completed nearing 2017.
She and husband Charles Ketchabaw and their son Zevon Albert Ketchabaw have been traveling with their trailer to various communities, including Flin Flon, Thompson, Churchill, Winnipeg and Morden in Manitoba.
The family was on their way to Prince Albert over the weekend for their first Saskatchewan stop of the trip, with later stops planned for Saskatoon, Regina and Moose Jaw.
DiLiberto encourages those who were unable to drop in during her visit to Flin Flon to send stories of Main Street memories to [email protected].
