Jonathon Naylor Editor Development of the Reed mine outside Snow Lake is on track and on budget, says the junior miner partnering with Hudbay on the project. VMS Ventures says the trench excavation is complete and ground supporting of the walls is underway with the first development round at the portal expected before the end of the month. Grouting of the portal, ventilation raise and escape raise areas is complete, and office and dry facilities are assembled, the Vancouver-based company said. Additionally, water, power and sewage services are expected to be completed this month, with the shop and warehouse building scheduled to wrap up in December. 'The Reed Copper Project is going very well,' Neil Richardson, chief operating officer of VMS, said in a news release. 'We expect to be at the 60-metre level before winter. Hudbay crews and contractors continue to do an excellent job in getting this deposit to the mining stage and we look forward to seeing the operation advance towards full production.' Mining at Reed is expected to begin by the final quarter of 2013.
