The Recycling Centre would like to remind everyone living outside of Flin Flon and Creighton that the recycling support fee for 2013 is due, unless they have already paid. The recycling support fee is $11.40 per person. The City of Flin Flon and the Town of Creighton pay this fee on behalf of their citizens. The Recycling Centre has requested this payment from Denare Beach for its residents. Village council declined. Centre staff is discussing payments for people living at the lake in Manitoba with Manitoba Conservation and Aboriginal and Northern Affairs. These discussions take time and will not reach any conclusion before the end of the year. Citizens are being asked to pay individually until these arrangements can be made. The same recycling services are available to everyone in Flin Flon, Creighton, Denare Beach and surrounding area as materials can be dropped off any time at the centre at 9 Timber Lane. The centre is dependent on these fees to support the operations of the centre in preparing and shipping materials to markets. The total fee is calculated at $11.40 for each person living in a household. Fees can be dropped off at the centre at 9 Timber Lane or mailed to Box 392, Flin Flon, MB, R8A 1N1. The sale of product is a very small source of funding for recycling. The prices for these materials fluctuate and currently are very low. Most of the funds come from the recycling support fees and the stewardship money paid by industry for recycling. Fundraising events also support the operations of the centre. Currently Flin Flon and Creighton residents can pay for pickup services. Red bags for curbside pickup of recyclables cost $2.50 each. Business can have their recyclables picked up for a fee of $20 per pick up plus GST. For more information call 204-687-6169.
