Some area students have been recognized for taking a stand against drugs and alcohol. Thursday evening at Elks Hall, the Flin Flon Elks and Royal Purple lodges presented certificates to the winners and participants in their drug and alcohol awareness essay, poster and video contest. "All of the entries were excellent," said Mary Danis, Honoured Royal Lady of the Royal Purple. "We're all very pleased." A handful of winners and participants attended Thursday's ceremony, each receiving an enthusiastic round of applause as they accepted their certificates.
