RCMP warn of increased presence in Deschambault Lake after incident

Saskatchewan RCMP are warning the public of an incident in Deschambault Lake Friday afternoon that has led to an arrest and further investigation.

Saskatchewan RCMP are warning the public of an incident in Deschambault Lake Friday afternoon that has led to an arrest and further investigation.

Police announced that a higher-than-normal police presence would be seen around Deschambault Lake Friday afternoon, citing an incident requiring investigation. Police do not believe there is actively a risk to the public, but are requesting help from people in the area during the investigation.

Information about the incident, as of Friday afternoon, is scarce - no known crimes, suspects, locations or similar information has been announced as of 4 p.m. local time.

What Saskatchewan RCMP have announced is that an investigation is underway, that more police than normal will be in the community, asking that members of the public stay away from areas where police are working and that a suspect has been taken into custody by Deschambault Lake RCMP.

"They [Deschambault Lake RCMP] do not believe there is any imminent public safety risk associated with this incident. If one is identified, the public will be immediately notified," reads the announcement from Saskatchewan RCMP.
