Pelican Narrows RCMP are looking for a man who was arrested last week and escaped from a police car.

Pelican Narrows RCMP are looking for a man who was arrested last week and escaped from a police car.

Police are looking for 23-year-old Donnie Sewap, who was arrested Oct. 26 following a reported break-in in Pelican Narrows. While police responded to the initial call, officers saw Sewap, who was wanted for failure to appear in court in connection to a Nov. 2021 vehicle theft and police chase that led to several charges, inside the house.

Sewap was arrested and faces seven charges, including possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and resisting arrest and obstructing a peace officer.

According to Saskatchewan RCMP, Sewap was arrested and put in a police car while an officer left the vehicle to investigate the house which was the site of the originally reported break-in. According to police, while the officer left, Sewap left the vehicle and ran from the scene.

"The police officer went back into the residence for three to four minutes to complete the investigation. When they returned, the door to the police vehicle was open and the male was not inside," reads a Saskatchewan RCMP news statement, issued Nov. 1.

Sewap faces another charge, this time of escaping lawful custody, in relation to the escape. Sewap is described as 5-foot-11, 160 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. Police say his current whereabouts are unknown, but he apparently visits Flin Flon and Creighton.

Anyone with information on Sewap's whereabouts is asked to either call Pelican Narrows RCMP at (306) 765-3300 or contact Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (1-800-222-8477) or at saskcrimestoppers.com.
