During the past week the local detachment has dealt with a wide variety of incidents. Assault, possible break and enters in progress, theft of motor vehicle, intoxicated persons in public places, missing teenage girl, utter threats, large dogs running loose willful damages and children playing near Ross Lake. It is that time of year again, where the lakes are just starting to form ice. Each year we receive numerous calls from concerned citizens who see young children (and some not so young) testing the ice. The responsibility begins at home with parents talking to their children about the dangers of thin ice. We are lucky to live in such a beautiful area surrounded by lakes, but with that comes the dangers. Keep an eye on your children and don't let them wander on their own near the lakes. A simple discussion at home with your child could save their life. Creighton and Flin Flon detachments are currently starting The 180 Program. This program draws on a partnership with Creighton's CADAC outpatient centre.
