With Christmas less than a month away it is nice to see people getting into the spirit and decorating their homes and yards. Unfortunately there has already been some vandalism to decorations. On two separate occasions this past week lights have been either stolen or smashed. This may seem like a minor offence, but it is vandalism/theft and it does put a damper on the holiday season. There were numerous reports of fights this week. They ranged from fights at the bar, youths fighting, to a spousal assault, in which one adult male was charged. There has been a growing concern in our community, where people prey on the kindness of others. We are fortunate to live in such a giving, generous community and the genuine people in need are very appreciative of it. Unfortunately there have been some people who have been fabricating their need for money. These people have been telling untruthful sob stories of needing money to feed their children (they live alone), calling and saying they are stranded and need money deposited in an account and always promising to pay back the money ? which they never do. If you are approached by a stranger asking for money, ask questions. Check with friends or family, make sure this person is not just looking to line his/her pockets. There are many legitimate people in need ? there are also many ways to donate and share your good fortune. There is a food bank, Christmas hampers, churches and socials for families in need.
