This week has been filled with traffic accidents and hit and runs. A motor vehicle accident is reportable to the police if the total damages between vehicles involved is $1,000 or more; or if there is personal injury/death. The RCMP should be notified as soon as possible about an accident, and an accident report must be completed within seven days. When attending the detachment to complete the report, you must have your driver's licence and vehicle registration with you. Police have also been busy dealing with assaults, a sexual assault, willful damage, threats and minors drinking. As many of you may have noticed, the RCMP have been out conducting check stops. We will be checking for driver's licences, registration, seatbelts, open liquor in the vehicle, and impaired drivers. Please make sure you are obeying the laws. If you have been drinking, take a cab or call Operation Rednose. Make sure you make it home safely so that your family and friends can enjoy Christmas.
