RCMP in Deschambault Lake have located and arrested a 22-year-old man who escaped from police custody last week.

RCMP in Deschambault Lake have located and arrested a 22-year-old man who escaped from police custody last week.

RCMP said that Keith McCallum, who had escaped from police custody en route to a court appearance last week, was found and put under arrest May 12.

According to a Saskatchewan RCMP statement released May 11, McCallum, escaped from police in Deschambault Lake May 4 on foot while being escorted to a waiting police vehicle. RCMP said that McCallum, who was en route to a court appearance, was set to face charges relating to vehicle theft, possession of stolen property, break and enter and failure to comply with conditions at the time of his escape.

An arrest warrant was issued for McCallum, who faces another charge of escaping lawful custody under Section 145(1) of the Criminal Code as a result of his getaway from police.

"Deschambault Lake RCMP are actively working to find and arrest him and are now asking the public for assistance in locating him," reads the RCMP statement issued before his arrest.
