Pelican Narrows RCMP and the Saskatchewan Coroners Service are investigating after a person was found dead at the bridge entering the community.
According to a Saskatchewan RCMP news release, police were called to the bridge over Mirond Lake on Highway 135 around 2 p.m. July 6, being told a body had been found near the bridge. On arrival at the scene, an officer was taken to where the body was found by a member of the public. Other officers used an RCMP boat to remove the person from the lake.
No identifying details of the person found, including their name, gender, age or hometown, have been announced by RCMP, who said the person's identity had not been confirmed. An autopsy is slated to take place on the person found, to be done by the Saskatchewan Coroners Service, but a date for the autopsy has not yet been set.
"The identity of the individual has not been confirmed and an autopsy by the Saskatchewan Coroners Service will take place; the date is not confirmed at this time. We cannot release further information about the individual at this time, including their sex," reads the Saskatchewan RCMP media release.
RCMP have also not commented on whether foul play is suspected in the death.
