A pair of Flin Flon-area residents are now in cuffs after an RCMP traffic stop found firearms, narcotics, phones and cash.
RCMP were stopped on Highway 10 the evening Sept. 29 when a truck blew past police at high speed. Officers stopped the vehicle shortly after.
Evidence at the scene of the stop allowed police to receive search warrants for both the vehicle and homes at Schist Lake and Flin Flon.
Following a set of police searches, RCMP seized a volume of drugs including 27 grams of cocaine, six grams of mushrooms and one gram of crack cocaine, along with 10 rifles, ammunition, a “large sum” of cash and other weapons including brass knuckles and knives. The estimated sale value of these drugs is in well into the thousands of dollars.
The driver of the vehicle has been identified as Paul McIntyre, 55, of Schist Lake. McIntyre has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, possession for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, four counts of failure to comply with undertaking, possession of a controlled substance, possession of property obtained by crime and several highway traffic tickets.
A passenger, 51-year-old Margaret Chisholm of Flin Flon, now faces two charges, one of possession for the purpose of trafficking and another for possession of property obtained by crime.
A further RCMP investigation is ongoing. A court date for the two suspects has not been announced.
