Flin Flon RCMP brought in some help late last month, clearing out a number of ongoing calls using assistance from across the north.

Police from the Flin Flon detachment received a series of extra police resources from Nov. 24-27, including from both northern Manitoba and Saskatchewan. Officers and support was sent to town from the North District Crime Reduction and Enforcement Team, Emergency Response Team North, Police Dog Services, North District Traffic Services, Creighton Detachment and F Division(Saskatchewan) Crime Reduction Team, according to Flin Flon RCMP. The extra help was brought in for drugs enforcement, managing habitual offenders and checking arrest warrants and traffic offenses.

With reinforcements having arrived, police said that “numerous addresses” were checked for outstanding warrants, with 20 tickets and a handful of written warnings also sent out. Five arrest warrants were executed, with all five remanded into custody. Two large checkstops were also held during the four-day deployment.

One search warrant was executed, with officers from both the Flin Flon and Creighton detachments along with police dogs and the RCMP Emergency Response Team and Crime Reduction and Enforcement Team doing the work. At the site of the warrant, officers found firearms and firearm parts including scopes, ammunition, a conducted energy weapon (a stun gun or Taser), an assortment of weapons like baseball bats, a sword and knives, as well as a seizure of controlled substances. The accused, whose name was not released by RCMP, was remanded into custody.

RCMP found and arrested what police called “one of Flin Flon’s more prolific offenders” after a breach of previous conditions - RCMP released them on further conditions following the arrest.

Lastly, the police group ended up assisting RCMP in Creighton and Pelican Narrows, police said, in relation to a stolen vehicle and flight from police reported around Jan Lake. With extra police, officers found and arrested three people and found a rifle inside the vehicle, RCMP said. All three were arrested and one person was remanded into police custody - the other two were released on conditions, as per police.
