A summary of calls to the Flin Flon RCMP for the period of Monday, August 24 through Sunday, August 30:
Monday, Aug. 24
• Report of vandalism to a Main Street business. Glass was broken at the front of the building.
• Report of a youth playing outside when he was approached by two males who gave the youth a hug. The youth was not injured.
• Report of a missing youth. The youth, who had followed his dog when it ran off, was quickly located.
• A female called, reporting her ex-partner was sending hateful text messages to her. The ex-partner was contacted and told to stop, and agreed to do so.
Tuesday, Aug. 25
• Report of a bear spotted on Prince Charles Place. Police attended but the bear ran back into the bushes.
• A female called saying there were lights going on around her house and she thought she heard knocking.
• Report of a bear in someone’s yard on Fifth Avenue. Police attended but the bear was gone.
• While on patrol, an intoxicated male was seen on Main Street with a Gatorade bottle full of mouthwash. The male was arrested and lodged in cells, given his state of intoxication.
• Report received of an attempted break and enter. The complainant said he could hear someone trying to open the back door and took after the suspect on foot.
Wednesday, Aug. 26
• Report received of someone knocking on a door of a residence and shining lights into it.
• Report of a bear in a tree in a residential area. Police attended and the bear became aggressive toward police. The bear was euthanized.
• Report of a vehicle keyed and damaged by unknown persons.
• Report of a mailbox stolen from outside a residence.
• Report of a female spreading rumours about another female. The victim feels these rumors are causing her to lose income.
• Report of an intoxicated female sleeping in an abandoned building. Police located the female, who was lodged in cells.
• Report of a child missing from home. The child was located a short time later playing in a neighbour’s yard.
Thursday, Aug. 27
• Report from a male who said he witnessed a break and enter to a business on Main Street. When further questioned by a call taker the male refused to answer any specifics about the supposed break and enter. No break and enters have been reported on Main Street.
• While on patrol, police located a male lying on the ground in a Main Street convenience store parking lot. The male was very intoxicated and unable to care for himself, so he was arrested and lodged in cells.
• Report of a group of people in a back lane smoking marijuana.
• Report of a theft from a local retailer. An investigation is ongoing.
• Report of a bear in a residential area near a walking path and houses.
• Report of an intoxicated male swearing at people and challenging them to a fight. Checks on the male revealed he is on conditions to abstain from alcohol. An investigation is ongoing.
Friday, Aug. 28
• Report of an alarm at a Flin Flon business was deemed to be false.
• An anonymous caller saying there “may” be a break and enter at a local convenience store. Police attended and found no evidence of a break-in. A witness who was in the area did not see anyone trying to break and enter into the business.
• Request received from EMS to assist in loading a very intoxicated female into the ambulance. Police attended and assisted. Police were later called to the Flin Flon General Hospital when the same female, who had been medically cleared, was causing problems. The female was arrested and lodged.
• Request received from the hospital to assist in transporting a patient to the The Pas psychiatric centre.
• Report of a youth going to a residence in Flin Flon trying to get another youth to run away from home.
Saturday, Aug. 29
• Report of suspicious people in the back alley of Steventon Boulevard. Police attended and found it was group of intoxicated youths.
• Report of an alarm call at a Flin Flon business was deemed to be false.
• Report of a domestic disturbance. Police attended and learned the disturbance was only verbal.
• Report of a group of intoxicated adults with children present. One of the adults was reportedly so intoxicated they fell on a child. Police attended and arrested the intoxicated persons.
• Report of a domestic disturbance. Police received a second call advising the male had left the residence shirtless and was banging on other apartment doors and yelling. Police attended and arrested the male. The domestic disturbance was deemed only verbal. Charges are pending against the male for causing a disturbance.
• Report of several trucks driving at a high rate of speed on Dominion Boulevard. Police are monitoring the situation.
Sunday, Aug. 30
• While on patrol, police conducted a traffic stop after noting a vehicle in the oncoming lane with daytime lights on. The male driver was deemed to be impaired and brought back to the detachment, where breath samples were obtained. The male will be charged with impaired driving, driving over the legal limit as well as offences under the Highway Traffic Act.
• Report of a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Ross and Hudson streets. There were no injuries.
• Report of a missing female whose mother hadn’t heard from her in two days. The female was located at her boyfriend’s residence.
