Flin Flon RCMP have for the second time closed their investigation into an alleged sexual assault that dates back nearly two decades.
A Flin Flon woman told authorities that in 1996, when she was a youth, she was sexually assaulted by a male youth in the community. At that time, police launched an investigation but did not lay any charges.
In December 2014, the same sexual assault was again reported to Mounties, who decided to reopen the file and continue the investigation.
RCMP spokesman Bert Paquet said the case was closed for a second time this past spring without any charges being laid.
When the case was reopened last year, police would not say whether new information had surfaced.
The alleged assault involved a single suspect and a single victim. The suspect was no longer a Flin Flon resident.
