The City of Flin Flon is boosting, ever so slightly, the cost of renting the ice surface at the Whitney Forum. At a special meeting last week, council approved a new fee schedule that bumps up by $5 ice rental fees. The hourly fee for regular youth user groups, such as minor hockey and figure skating, will go up to $85 this fall. Adult user groups will start paying $125 an hour. Out-of-town user groups will pay $95 an hour if they are for youth and $135 an hour for adults. This fee is seldom charged as regular user groups already encompass Flin Flon, Creighton, Denare Beach and cottage areas. Another change will see the Flin Flon Bombers pay an extra $100 per month to use the ice as per their lease agreement. That brings their total to $2,350 a month. Ice rental rates had not increased in several years.
