The effort to end violence against women and girls comes to the Hapnot Theatre tomorrow. The Women's Resource Centre will host an evening of readings entitled A Memory, a Monologue, a Rant and a Prayer. 'Everybody needs to band together as a society and work towards ending (the violence),' said executive director Colleen Arnold. The event will see 14 familiar individuals from across the community read true-life stories of the plight of women and girls. One story relates to a journalist who interviewed a 13-year-old girl in a red light district in Cambodia; another to a man who realizes the women he grew up with had all been raped. Due to the language and subject matter, the event is not considered appropriate for younger children. Refreshments will be served. Admission is $10 with tickets available at the Women's Resource Centre, Northern Rainbow's End, the Friendship Centre and The Orange Toad. Proceeds go to the Women's Resource Centre.
