Flin Flon, a town known for its friendly people, will welcome The People's Network next week. CBC Radio One will broadcast the morning show Information Radio from the Flin Flon Indian-Metis Friendship Centre on October 6. It's part of the network's CBC North of 53 Tour, which will also include live broadcasts from Thompson on October 7 and 9, and Leaf Rapids on October 8. Residents of the communities will be welcome to visit the broadcast sites for a chance to meet host Terry MacLeod and the rest of the crew. The shows will be broadcast from 5:30-8:30 a.m. and will air in conjunction with North Country, CBC Radio's Northern Manitoba morning show. In addition, Sook-Yin Lee and the crew from the network's Definitely Not The Opera show will dedicate their October 11 broadcast to life in these three northern communities and the roads that connect them. Definitely Not The Opera airs Saturdays from 1-5 p.m. on CBC Radio One. MacLeod and Lee will write about their northern experiences on the CBC North of 53 Web site at Winnipeg.cbc.ca. Meanwhile, CBC is still accepting song submissions from Manitoba musicians for possible broadcast. Submission forms and additional information are available at the aforementioned Web site.
