Local triathletes Chad Trumbley and Jason Straile successfully completed the ITU World Championships Triathlon on Sept. 19.
“It was a great experience,” says Straile, who added that the weather cooperated with a temperature of 18 degrees and mostly calm waters, though the 25 km/hr winds presented a bit of a challenge.
The men raced for Team Canada in a competition that included a 1.5-km swim, 40-km bike ride and 10-km run.
Trumbley competed in the 35-39 men’s category and placed 106th of 111 competitors who completed the race, finishing with a time of 02:35:46.
Straile competed in the 40-44 men’s category and placed 117th of 126 with a time of 02:30:46.
