The City announced the Flin Flon Public Library had been temporarily closed Friday, citing structural concerns with the building.

The Main Street institution's temporary closure was announced Nov. 4, with the City circulating statements via its social media channels.

"Flin Flon city council has made the decision to temporarily close the Flin Flon Public Library pending the results of an engineering assessment. There is [an] indication of possible structural issues and council is erring on the side of caution for the safety of the employees and the public," reads a statement from the City Nov. 4.

"Staff will not be in the building, so we ask that you do not return books at this time. All books due during the closure will be renewed."

No reopening date has been announced for the library, nor have specifics been made available for exact nature of the structural issues. The building, which was built in 1967, was remodelled in 2020.
