Opposition leader Brian Pallister visited a Winnipeg food bank last week to again chastise the NDP governmentâ??s upcoming PST hike. Manitobans already rely on food banks more than residents of any other province, and the Progressive Conservatives worry the PST increase will only worsen the situation. â??The PST hike, combined with last yearâ??s tax and fee increases, mean a family of four will have $1,600 less to spend on essentials like food and clothing,â?ù Pallister said. The NDP defend the rise of the PST from seven per cent to eight per cent, as of July 1, as an equitable means of raising needed revenue.
