The mystery is over: the Manitoba government will open its promised northern trades training centre in Thompson.
The province announced the centre in its throne speech last month but did not indicate where in northern Manitoba it would be built.
Last week the province said it will partner with the School District of Mystery Lake and UCN to build the Industry Skills and Trades Training Centre in northern Manitoba’s largest city.
The new 19,500-sq-ft facility will be located on land owned by the school district in close proximity to RD Parker Collegiate, Thompson’s high school, and the UCN Thompson campus.
The new facility will accommodate 126 apprentice/post-secondary students and 50 to 60 secondary students, the
province said.
