The Manitoba government has doubled its support to the people of the Philippines affected by Typhoon Haiyan, for a total of $200,000, Premier Greg Selinger announced Tuesday.
The funding will be administered through the Manitoba Council for International Cooperation to its member organizations providing relief on the ground in the Philippines.
“Manitobans stand united with our friends and family in the Philippines as they recover from one of the worst natural disasters on record,” said the premier.  “Now that we have a better sense of the scope of devastation, we are doubling our initial commitment to relief efforts.  I’d also like to commend the many Manitobans who have stepped up to raise funds and do whatever they can to help.”
